The Ignite Program is a unique opportunity for freshmen to learn about opportunities for involvement and life outside the classroom, while meeting other new students and developing leadership skills. IGNITE participants will learn about getting inVOLved and making a difference while attending the University of Tennessee.
Ignite participants continue their leadership at The University of Tennessee as Orientation Leaders, Sorority and Fraternity members, Student Alumni Associates, Student Ambassadors, Alternative Break participants, Resident Assistants, Freshman Council members, Leadership Guides, Ignite Team Leaders, Emerging Leaders and even SGA Presidents! The Ignite Program is divided into the Summit, a fun filled 3 day retreat, and Teams, an 8 week program in the fall for freshmen students. Students can participate in Summit, Teams, or both! For more information, visit our FAQ sheet!
How do I sign up?
This year The Ignite Summit will be offered at two different times: Session 1 is scheduled for June 22-24, 2012; Session 2 is scheduled for August 15-17, 2012. Students can register for Ignite Summit when they register online for Summer Orientation. The cost per student is $130.00 and includes transportation to and from the retreat center, lodging, meals, a t-shirt, and Summit materials. While we are not able to fully waive the fee, we are able to provide flexible payment plans for interested students who may have a financial hardship. For more information, please email sparish@utk.edu. Please note that refunds will only be given prior to June 1, 2012 and will reflect a $25 deduction for processing. Please note that session changes will only be accomodated for emergency situations. All requests to switch sessions must be made in writing prior to June 1st, 2012 and will also reflect a $25 change fee.
Ignite Teams will begin on the first day of classes in the Fall semester, August 22, and will continue throughout the first 8 weeks of classes. Registration is only $20 and covers all of your program expenses.
Registration for the Summit and Teams programs will begin in January 2012 through the Orientation registration system. Spaces are limited, so register early!
