What is the most important piece of advice you would give new students?

  • Get involved but do not get overwhelmed. There is so much to participate in all over campus and plenty of time to do so. Save time to do homework, relax and hung out with your friends as you become more and more involved.

What is your favorite extracurricular experience?

  • Intramurals and Greek Life have been my two favorite extracurricular experiences. My sorority has contributed to so many aspects of community and campus involvement. I cannot imagine my life now without have gone through recruitment. Intramurals has been one of my most exciting experiences. I was part of the winning soccer and basketball teams my freshman year and later received a scholarship for Female Intramural Participant of the Year.

What surprised you most about coming to college?

  • At first the size of the school surprised me most. I knew UT was a large school but that aspect of size is not what shocked me. I was amazed how after the first month or two my freshman year, the school seemed very small and I recognized people and faces wherever I went. Visiting UT during orientation and actually living and going to school in Knoxville are completely different experiences. Both are exciting and once students more in the fall, they will soon find a new home, just like I did.
